Our Story

Middle Village was devised in 2021 as an innovative idea to fill empty storefronts while lifting up aspiring entrepreneurs.

We had a plan: to create a hub that would nurture a handful of rising stars in the retail scene, arming them with business know-how and marketing finesse while they sowed their entrepreneurial seeds, curated their clientele, and tested the market. We set our sights high, hoping to create a downtown that truly represents Lansing, with a special nod to women and minority-owned businesses.

But we’re not in this alone—although Downtown Lansing, Inc. manages the program and provides the space, Lake Trust Credit Union supports us with generous funding, and the Michigan Small Business Development Center equips business owners with training and resources.
